A New Decade

Linden-Hall-Studio

So the ‘Winter at the Woodshed’ event has finished. I’d like to say thank you to Amanda, Clare and Penny for their most enjoyable company, making it great fun as well as nicely successful. Christmas and New Year celebrations are done and dusted (also great fun) and the new decade is upon us. How exciting to wonder what it will bring! It’s started off very well for me.

I’ve signed up for a Pilates class, which I haven’t started yet but I’m very much looking forward to. I’ve been to see the treasures of Tutankhamun at the Saatchi Gallery (marvellous!), and I’m off to London again to see the musical ‘Hamilton’ later this week. I’ve had my photograph taken in preparation for it to become a (very small) part of a collaborative artwork being made by East Cliff Creatives for Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27th (see eastcliffcreatives.com/stand together for more detail). I’ve also signed up to create a small piece of work for their ‘Purple It!’ exhibition. In association with Rotary International and the hART Art Group, this exhibition of purple art and craft is in aid of the Purple 4 Polio campaign, which aims to eradicate polio entirely. It will run from 19th February until 3rd March in Gallery 66 at the bottom of The Old High Street in Folkestone. All the work in the exhibition will be donated by the artists, with all proceeds from sales going to the campaign.

Meanwhile, the ‘Winter Group Show’ at Linden Hall Studio in Deal continues to run until Saturday 25th January. On a personal level, I’m delighted to say that my submission ‘And Through Summer Meadows’ has a red dot on it. But of course it’s only one very small part of the exhibition. There’s lots to see, with some really excellent pieces on show, so I recommend a visit if you can. See their website for opening times.
