Keeping Busy .......

I’m horrified to realize that it’s nearly a year since I last updated my news! My rather feeble excuse is that I have been quite busy. Last September I had my first ever solo show in the lovely little Fishslab gallery in Whitstable. Hot on the heels of that, I showed some of my sculptures in The Autumn Show at Lilford Gallery & Framing in Canterbury. (Note to self - it’s time to apply for a chance to join in this year’s event). No sooner was that done than I had a glass panel shown in The Winter Group Show at Linden Hall in Deal (and it’s also time to apply for this one again too!)

I hit the ground running this year with participation in The Spring Group Show in Fstone Art Gallery, meanwhile creating a body of work to show in a collaborative exhibition with my excellent artist friends Sue Bridge and Zel Hunt. For this, we challenged ourselves to each paint a 3 metre long canvas, as the scale would provide a strong visual link for our work. This was quite exciting as none of us knew what the others were painting until the last minute. Although as expected they are very different from each other in subject and colour, they actually work very well together and definitely do the job as we had hoped. We showed the results of our efforts (not just the long paintings of course) in our ‘Subliminal Influences’ exhibition at The Horsebridge in Whitstable , where we were delighted with the reception it received. Several artworks were sold and are now with their new owners, but we are taking the remainder (including the long paintings) plus some new pieces, to Fstone Art Gallery next week. There’s a ‘Meet the Artists’ event 4-6 pm on Saturday 26 August, to which you are very welcome, and we remain there until 6 September (see my website exhibition page for details). If you haven’t visited this gallery yet, do try to get along there. It’s a lovely space over two floors, and is an excellent addition to the very lively art scene in Folkestone.

And finally (for the moment!), from 22 to 27 September I’m also taking part in another exhibition in the same gallery, this time with the STUDIO 16 group. In a new departure for me, I won’t be showing any sculpture or glass pieces, only paintings. It feels very strange - but I’m looking forward to It.
